Local community street markets are key to the success of healthy high streets and town centres,however in order for them to survive, they need to adapt to the needs of today’s modern consumers. Marketti, a Paysme owned service, addresses the two main current issues facing the UK’s local street markets today:

First, it connects market operators, market traders and street food vendors with consumers by providing them with an online platform where they can find all the information they need on the markets in their local area, such as where to eat, drink and shop, as well as updates to opening hours and traders’ stalls.

Second, it provides an easy-to-use contactless mobile payments platform which allows traders to take payment for their goods and services from visiting consumers.

Endorsed by The National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) and used by renowned London markets; Borough Market, Portobello Market and Camden Market, Paysme provides a unique and single online solution that encompasses local street market discovery and payment functionality.

Aecor's role

Aecor partnered  with Paysme throughout the process, from initial  idea conception through to platform launch. Aecor’s highly-experienced client service team worked alongside senior members of the Paysme management team to determine the key project objectives, craft the product roadmap in line with key commercial milestones and translate the key functional requirements of the platform into a prototype with  a detailed specification document for the Aecor development team to execute.

The Aecor delivery team consisted of an overall project manager, scrum master, several front end HTML developers, back-end developers and iOS and Android mobile developers to help create the best solution for Paysme’s needs, including :

  • Responsive consumer facing website
  • Consumer facing app (iOS and Android)
  • Account login and authentication (traders can manage products and take contactless payments).
  • A content management system (CMS) (managing markets, traders, consumer accounts and payments)
  • Manage AWS infrastructure, including 24x7x365 support

Client background

Insite Energy is a national heat network metering, billing and maintenance service provider to over 28,000 homes across the UK. Their services help ensure that the households managed by developers, local authorities, housing associations, private landlords and managing agents are treated fairly and charged accurately for their heating and hot water usage.

Insite Energy had been utilising a legacy billing platform making it increasingly challenging ​​ to service customers and clients cost effectively. As the outdated technology was hindering growth they recognised the need to develop a more flexible, scalable, and user-friendly customer portal for payment processing and account management.

Insite Energy wanted to build a new customer portal that provided their customers with a user-friendly account for easier access, efficient payments and improved account management. The new portal would allow their customers to instantly access their account details including – contact information, service tariffs, billing, payments and historical invoices.

As part of the build, it was also important to upgrade their digital capabilities and improve upon their legacy billing and payments functionality.

Insite Energy recognised the importance of developing a more flexible and scalable solution, that better served their customer needs and the growth ambitions of the business.

Aecor's role

Tasked with building the rebranded websites for each of the islands and introducing new ECommerce capabilities, Aecor designed and delivered a flexible web application that enabled easier management and growth capabilities within the IEG business. 

Aecor’s role was to build Insite Energy’s new customer portal with a modern, cloud-based solution. The new customer portal was configured to align with Insite Energy’s existing business process (to minimise operational change), whilst ensuring that their legacy system were upgraded throughout the build.

As part of the application development, a new payments and billing provider was integrated to allow for improved functionality and a better customer experience. As a result, Insite have been able to handle increased customer volumes with greater customer satisfaction.

Aecor's role

Aecor was tasked with presenting a full solution to set up a cloud-based analytics environment for performing data science, machine learning, reporting & dashboarding on IoT data. As a result, they have successfully launched a product that connects all process equipment to the cloud and provides clients with a powerful tool to significantly enhance their operational efficiency. 

The  project was structured  into three specialised teams focusing on data, web front end and applications

  • Developed cloud-based data architecture

Client background

Islands Energy Group is made up of three businesses based in Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man, and are the sole utility provider of natural gas and/or liquefied petroleum gas to domestic, commercial and industrial customers across the islands. They also offer technology and appliances through retail areas in Guernsey and Jersey.  Their mission is to develop renewable energy projects, implement energy efficiency measures, and create a greener future for the community they serve. 

As part of a company rebrand, IEG identified the need to have unique but uniformed web applications across each of the islands. They also required the expansion of their offering to include Ecommerce capabilities enabling the sale of energy related products and services.

In addition, IEG requested a technical review and audit of their existing systems with recommendations to enhance their digital systems architecture, leading to the provision of operational improvements and integration with their ERP, Microsoft Dynamics.

Aecor's role

Tasked with building the rebranded websites for each of the islands and introducing new ECommerce capabilities, Aecor designed and delivered a flexible web application that enabled easier management and growth capabilities within the IEG business.

Aecor conducted a full review of IEG’s systems architecture – consisting of internal legacy processes and multiple third party applications. With each system reviewed, recommendations were made to create a more holistic and consolidated view of the business through extended integration, efficient data planning and improved utilisation of the MS365 suite of tools. Key tasks included.
